Microsoft invested heavily in Financial Reporting in the latest release. These enhancements are focused on productivity and usability. These improvements are focused on how the finance teams work day in and day out.

A Better Way to Navigate Reports

Financial Reports now offer a tile-based view, giving users an at‑a‑glance overview of report purpose, category, status, and last run date. This makes it easier to find the right report without digging through long lists.

Clear Organization with Categories and Lifecycle Status

Report authors can now assign categories and lifecycle statuses (Draft, Active, Retired) to reports and their definitions. This helps teams clearly communicate which reports are ready for use and which are still under development or no longer relevant.

Company-Specific Defaults for Consistency

Organizations can define company-wide defaults for financial reports, including negative number formatting, reporting periods, and logo placement. These defaults ensure consistency while still allowing overrides at the individual report level.

Dimension Perspectives: One Run, Many Results

Instead of running the same report repeatedly, users can now define dimension perspectives to generate reports for all values of a dimension in a single run—merged into one PDF or Excel file. This significantly reduces manual effort and speeds up analysis.

Built-In Scheduling

Financial reports can now be scheduled directly in Business Central. Users can automate recurring runs, send outputs to email recipients or distribution groups, and track execution through scheduling logs.

Audit Log for Stronger Controls

A new Financial Reporting audit log provides visibility to who ran which reports, when, and in what format, supporting compliance, governance, and internal controls.

Why this Matters

These enhancements don’t change how financial reporting works, they make it easier and faster. For finance teams, that means less manual work, better visibility, and more confidence in the numbers they share.
