It has been wonderful to return hosting, attending and presenting at a number of in-person events this year. I want to extend my congratulations and gratitude to both Dynamic Communities (DCI) and Dynamics User Group (DUG) for their outstanding leadership in organizing these meet-ups.
While virtual conferences like those on Zoom are beneficial for those unable to travel or without local meet-ups, I believe that in-person events offer a much richer learning experience.
When I present, I make it a point to encourage audience participation and invite them to share their experiences related to the topic. I often learn something new from the attendees, and I believe this approach enhances the session for everyone involved. This, in my view, is the most effective way to learn—by drawing on others’ experiences and considering how they apply to your own situation. Every organization may operate differently, but there’s usually a common thread we can all learn from.
I recently read that most problems are solved not by a single individual, but by a group, and that diverse perspectives—sometimes even from people outside your field—can lead to better outcomes. Being in the same room allows us to learn from each other and benefit from these varied viewpoints.
I highly recommend finding a group that meets in person and joining them. Whether it’s a Dynamics community or another area you want to explore, coming together and learning from each other is invaluable. I’m excited to see some of you at upcoming meet-ups and larger events.
