Managing alternate names for vendors and customers just got easier! With Business Central’s 2025 Wave 2 update, you can now personalize pages by adding Name 2 fields—giving you more flexibility and clarity in your financial processes.

What’s New?

Business Central now supports adding secondary name fields to vendor and customer-related documents. This enhancement helps businesses handle alternate names or extended naming conventions without overwriting primary fields.

Vendor Documents

You can add Buy-from Vendor Name 2 and Pay-to Name 2 to:

  • Purchase Orders/Purchase Order Archive
  • Purchase Invoices/Posted Purchase Invoices
  • Purchase Quotes/Purchase Quote Archive
  • Purchase Credit Memo/Posted Purchase Credit Memo
  • Purchase Return Order/Purchase Return Order Archive/Posted Return Shipment

Customer Documents

You can add Sell-to Customer Name 2 and Bill-to Name 2 to:

  • Sales Orders/Sales Order Archive
  • Sales Invoices/Posted Sales Invoices
  • Sales Quotes/Sales Quote Archive
  • Sales Return Order/Sales Return Order Archive/Posted Return Receipt

Important Note

These fields are available in personalization only when the document is set up to use alternate or custom addresses instead of the default shipping and billing addresses.
For example:

  • If the Ship-to field is set to Alternate Shipping Address or Custom Address, the related Name 2 fields become available for personalization.
    The same rule applies to other address-related fields in the sections above.

How to Add Them

  1. Open the page you want to personalize (Vendor Card, Customer Card, or any document listed above).
  2. Click Settings ⚙️ → Personalize.
  3. Select + Field, then drag the new Name 2 fields into your layout.
  4. Click Done to save.
